Dia al-Azzawi puts his support behind persecuted creatives

The nonprofit organisationArtists at Risk  has launched a fundraising campaign to support artists who face threats to their freedom or who are unable to reach safety during the Covid 19 pandemic. Along with other high-profile names, Iraqi artist Dia al-Azzawi is backing the initiative which is raising funds in order to cover basic living expenses and relocation assistance for those in need. Launched in 2013, Artists at Risk has created 17 residencies across 14 countries, including Spain, Finland, Germany and Tunisia, offering temporary safe haven residencies. The programme has assisted individuals from Brazil, Syria, Vietnam, Egypt and Kenya, among other countries.
