Bahir Faeq (1903-2001) was a veteran diplomat, politician and studied History and Philosophy at the Sorbonne in 1922. He held exhibitions of artists work at his home. He was the Ambassador of Iraq in Czechoslovakia. As an art collector, he is known for his work in preserving Iraqi cultural heritage, particularly through his collection of Iraqi art and his involvement in the preservation of Baghdad's historic buildings. He was a well-known figure in Baghdad and his collection included works by prominent Iraqi artists such as The Fisherman by Faik Hassan.

Baher Faiq House (1952)
This project was Rifat Chadirji's first private commission. He had in mind a Miesian type of plan which showed the easy flow of lines. The house was initially divided into three equal spaces by clear continuous walls broken up with perpendicular lines in order to create other spaces. However, because of financial reasons, minor changes in the plans were not enough and Chadirji had to redesign the project. The second design was different, although still modernist in approach.
It was important to stress on the unique living conditions in Iraq where, for example, the separation between the outside and the inside was not only done using windows—as in the West— but was gradual since living was done both on the inside and the outside.
